The Old Gaol is moving. Yes SAHRA (South African heritage resources agency) wants to open up a heritage education centre. Kicking us out. As we kick and scream out the door our convicts need a new place to stay. So we have opened Whethu Backpackers. A great little place with the same attitude but with less hassles of trying to get the Government body to fix up the building. So if you looking for affordable and a relaxed place to stay in Grahamstown come stay with us at Whethu.
In the next few years we will follow up on the Old Gaol building and making SAHRA accountable on what they said they were doing. Hoping they do not break a business for nothing.
